ThinkRemote
Platform for mass-market Windows®
SideShow-enabled devices |
Display
and navigate Windows SideShow content. Remotely control
Media Center, Media Player, or other applications.
Whether designing a remote control or a fridge magnet,
the ThinkRemote platform makes it simple and inexpensive
for PC accessory manufacturers to create Windows SideShow-compatible
and other PC-centric hardware.
Available as a Windows-based
service and configuration applet, the ThinkRemote
platform offloads your remote's processor and makes
it possible to create devices at mass-market price
points with high-value features. Here are some highlights.

|
Whole-home
range using Z-Wave® technology

Remotes and devices are set free from the limitations
of line-of-sight or short RF range. Using Z-Wave's
industry-leading routing technology, a remote
or other device can communicate with the PC
in direct range--or it can route signals through
other Z-Wave devices in the home. Whether bouncing
signals through a few
plug-in lamp modules, light switches, energy
saving thermostats, or AV equipment, you don't
need to worry about routing algorithms or range
limitations. It just works.
Change the music
from the kitchen. Check the weather with your
fridge magnet. Review stock performance by your
bedside. The possibilities are limitless, since
your PC is now a whole-home entertainment and
information hub.

Set
the hardware designs free

Inexpensive text-based remotes or full-color
remote controls. Fridge magnets or watches or
weather displays. With ThinkRemote, it's easy
to create a PC-connected device in almost any
form factor. Just add a Z-Wave chip and a bit
of display intelligence on the device side,
install the ThinkRemote service on the PC, and
you're up and running. For more full-featured
devices, add our ThinkRemote .NET Micro Framework
client on the device--and have the ultimate
in control.
ThinkRemote
is also great for non-display remote controls.
Plug a Z-Wave USB adapter into the PC or add
the chip to your PC design--and say goodbye
to infrared's limitations. Remotes can be paired
to the PC with a button press or two. And we've
even made it possible to wake up the PC from
standby.

 |
And monitor
and control the home too

Since ThinkRemote uses the interoperable Z-Wave
protocol for communications, your remote can also
control the lights, providing a real theater-like
experience (or a bit of romantic lighting) at
the touch of a button. Save energy by turning
down the thermostat, let in more light by opening
the shades, or check on the door locks. All of
this and more is possible with interoperable Z-Wave
technology.
Additionally,
as users install more Z-Wave devices your hardware
can gain additional communication and repeater
paths, increasing range, reliability, and customer
satisfaction.

Tailor
the experience for your users

On the device side or the PC side, it is easy
to add custom features to the ThinkRemote platform.
Control your PC's unique features, or use other
OEM-built extensions. With optional IR blasters,
turn the PC into an RF-to-IR bridge.
With full extensibility,
the user experience can be both comfortable
and customized. Make it your own.
